Morphy Richards 12-in-1 Steam Cleaner - A Detailed Review
Today we’re going to be looking at the Morphy steam cleaner, this is their entry level steam cleaner pricing in around the £50 mark depending on the time of year. It is a mop style steam cleaner but it also has the ability to change into a handheld which means it has great versatility because you wouldn’t want to use a mop style cleaner to try clean the kitchen worktop generally.
For everyday cleaning this product was really good but it struggled slightly with more heavily greased areas. That being said for the majority of people that won’t be an issue as for daily cleaning it worked great. I was slightly worried that the mop would be heavy to manoeuvre but luckily the unit is quite lightweight and easy to move around, even when going under furniture due to the pivoting head.
Some of the positives of this device were the capacity of 400ml, this is higher than some of the competitors and is a large enough capacity to do most things. Even though it has a large capacity this doesn’t mean that it takes a long time to get up to temperature, quite the contrary it was one of the quicker machines to do so. Keeping it as a mop was effective to use on large surfaces such as tiles and then changing to the handheld when we needed to clean in tighter areas such as the corners.
While it doesn’t have all the fancy options such as variable steam output for an entry level product at such a low price you can’t complain about it. While I probably wouldn’t make this my go to product if I was going to be using it every day for those of you who want to use it once or twice a week I can recommend it. It’s easy to use, it has a large capacity and boils very quickly so you’re not standing around for ages.
If there was something in particular we were looking to improve it would probably be the run time as it only runs for around 14 minutes, which isn’t terrible but it isn’t the best. Another potential downside is that the cord length is 5 meters, for us this is fine because we have quite a lot of sockets in the house but for others some have said that it wasn’t long enough for them, this can be remedied by using an extension lead to increase the length.
All in all we are happy to recommend this product as an entry level steamer, it isn’t the best it isn’t the worst it is somewhere around the middle but for the price you really can’t go wrong. It cleans most things very well but can struggle a little when it comes to very mucky surfaces.
